The original Gurgler Patterns came from the vise of the great Jack Gartside. Gurglers were often used for fishing for other species of fish, primarily, larger fish. I started tying the Bluegill Gurgler in smaller sizes to stir up the Bluegill feeding on or near the surface. By all means, I am sure I was not the first to tie or fish these for Bluegill........ However, I have and I have found them to be quite successful and in a variety of color combinations. I offer a few of my favorites here!
They are tied on a size (10) hook with a wide gap to help in hooking the bigger Bluegill and even a good Bass once in awhile.
This is one of my favorite floating patterns for those times when Bluegill's are smacking the surface!
